The Wider Gauteng (100K) Challenge takes place on an annual basis. It covers two circular areas around the province’s two biggest cities, Johannesburg and Pretoria. The circles’ mid-points are City Hall and Church Square respectively, with a 100 km radius each. The objective of the challenge is to see how many bird species can be recorded in this area in one calendar year.
